XO Magazine is an online magazine dedicated to the unsaid, the strange, the taboo, the foreign, the soft, the sharp, the blunt, the honest. We are committed to amplifying voices of the under-heard and stimulating discussion about the overlooked. We want to explore and complicate current perceptions of modern love, sex, and sexuality.

We are continually focused on publishing works of creative nonfiction writing, media, and art from current Brown and RISD students that are—directly or abstractly—focused on love, sex, and/or sexuality. Works selected for publication will be published online.

Guidelines

Call for Submissions

We are accepting rolling comic and essay submissions for the Spring 2023 semester.

Please limit works of writing to between 900 and 2,000 words.
Please make sure comics are 300 DPI jpg files.

IMPORTANT: if your story refers to members of the Brown/RISD community, please use pseudonyms in your submission to protect the identities of others. If you have a specific concern relating to our anonymity policy, please contact our editors for further discussion.
